Fifu Camel Safari was established in 1996 by Mr Om Prakash Kewaliya (known by his friends as Fifu), who still runs the safaris today with the help of his family and a group of dedicated staff.

OM PRAKASH (FIFU)

If you spend some time chatting with Fifu it won’t take long to realize how much he loves Jaisalmer and the Thar Desert. By his own admission this is the place where he was born, grew up and where he will happily be for the rest of his life. He graduated in economics and accounting but his passion for hospitality coupled with his love for Jaisalmer and the desert drove him headfirst into the tourism industry, where he has been successfully working for over 20 years. With each new guest his perception of the world expands. Fifu loves photography, speaks 5 languages fluently (Hindi, English, German, Spanish and French) and has recently found a new passion in organic farming. His attention to detail and high standards are apparent in every service and tour he offers.

ANTRIKSHA

Antriksha, Fifu’s nephew, also graduated in economics and accounting from the prestigious language school Alliance Francaise d’Ahmedabad, where he studied French. He speaks fluent French, English and Hindi. In his free time, Antriksha enjoys taking guests around the city as well.

BHOMA RAM CHOUDHARY

Bhoma Ram, now 28 years old, has been working with us for over ten years. He has always shown initiative and proved time and time again his willingness to learn and grow within the team. He learns something new from every guest. Today he is responsible for the day to day management of the hotel.

BHOJRAJ ‘SODA’ SINGH

Soda is our main ‘desert man’ and has been working with us since 1996. The small villages in the Thar Desert are very welcoming and generally happy to receive visitors, but having a local person who was born and raised in the villages makes communication so much easier. Soda is a very capable jeep driver and cook as well. His knowledge and skills make him the perfect man to have with you if you are ever spending a night in the desert.

ABDULLAH

Abdullah’s main responsibility is the camel rides. He ensures we have enough camels for our guests and that all camels are well maintained. Coming from a small village in the desert, camels have always been a part of his life. If you’re lucky enough to hear about his life he will tell you about his years at “camel” university. He is also an amazing cook who can create an exquisite meal even on a simple fire.

KHEM SINGH

Khem manages and handles all guest relations at the camp. He ensures that the high standards associated with Hotel Fifu are maintained in the desert camp. He is the go-to-guy for any questions or concerns regarding your stay in the desert.

GAMBIRA

Gambira is our joyful and reliable jeep driver. Apart from Hindi, he also speaks little English and French.
